Pros

• Allows the community to have real-time conversations rather than the comparatively async ones that happen in conversations.
• The async nature of GitHub discussions lend themselves to more formal back-and-forth that, while productive, can discourage -people from starting a conversation in the first place.
• Not every conversation needs to be recorded for historical purposes.

Cons

• Conversations on Discord can be hard to follow due to their informal nature.
• Requires the dev team to monitor the server relatively frequently to ensure the community continue using it as a resource.
