In order to use the storage module in OLF you first of all should create a storage hierarchy in the following order (you can find these options under Storage > Configuration):
StorageLocation: e.g. which building and room
StorageType: e.g. a freezer or nitrogen tank
Compartment: e.g. a container or compartment in your freezer
When you are done with defining compartments, you can click on Storage > Manage Boxes.
Boxes are the sub-unit of compartments and contain the actual sample. In order to create boxes you therefore should select a StorageType and Compartment first. When you add a new box you can select the x and y dimension to reflect the dimensions of the grid of your actual box.
When you have created enough boxes you might want to have a look at the Storage chapter of the user documentation to learn how to add content. If you are a software developer you might be interested in learning how to configure the storage module to work with different data types (DataObjects).
