Refresh and validate the path-gem entry in Gemfile.lock whenever release preparation changes the version, then include the lockfile in the release commit.

Add focused stale-lock regression coverage, a release validation task, and an end-to-end-compatible documented workflow so tagged frozen installs match PR behavior.

How to test

Release notes

Does this change need an explicit changelog or release-note callout beyond the PR title?

Turn guest feedback into clear next steps for your team. Collect private appraisals, spot patterns across reviews, and act before small issues turn into public ones.

Remove the application-style lockfile so each supported Ruby resolves compatible dependencies during CI and release publication, matching the established sibling-gem workflow.

This avoids frozen path-gem mismatches after release version bumps without adding repository-specific release tasks or validation machinery.
